Whistle

Apparently the Tsar would whistle (it was their secret code) and the Tsarina would race blushing through the palace to be with him. I don't know how true the story is but its a nice way to think of it and eminently practical in a large palace with so many people watching your every move.

Here is today's colorization of a b&w Romanov photograph. I was quite pleased with this one. The Romanov's took thousands of pictures before they were killed. It was as if they knew and didn't want the world to forget them- well we haven't! It's was a good picture for Christmas Day I think.
