Midges

Rain falls upon streaming grass
Watery teeth biting upon growth
And slipping between the shades
Vampires of yellowing grassland
Flying on moistures twilight breath
Fearing sun and garlic
Swim in shady oceans of darkness
And a thousand piercing mandibles
Attack abundance as reward
Humanity is their gift of summer
And they nibble upon our softness
With the tenderness of a tickle
